5 Tips for Finding Your Style and Becoming a Well-Dressed Man

Want to be a well-dressed man? It starts with choosing a personal fashion style. Find yours with the help of the suggestions here.

You might feel most comfortable in a t-shirt and sweat pants, and that’s more than fine. Eventually, however, we all want to be able to embrace the best version of ourselves. And the best version of ourselves probably puts a little more effort into their appearance and looks like less of a slob.

Is your new year’s resolution for next year to become a well-dressed man? Dressing well can help to increase your confidence, provide new opportunities, and even help you fall in love. Still, if style doesn’t come naturally to you, there are steps you can take to help better find your own sense of personal style.

Want to get started? Read on and we’ll walk you through what you need to know.

1. Develop an Eye

The first step in creating your own sense of personal style is to open your eyes up to the world around you. Generally speaking, men with poor fashion sense have probably been disinterested in clothes for most of their lives.

You might not have really cared about what you or other men are wearing as long as you felt comfortable. If you want to change that for 2020, it’s time to start looking around.

You might even have an eye and don’t realize it! Try to think of people, whether they be in your life personally or celebrities, that you think dress ‘cool.’ Make a small list, or take a little time to check out people’s wardrobe and think about it.

Once you’ve done this thinking, consider what’s similar between the people you mentioned? What do you like about what they’re wearing? Try to articulate it into words. These thoughts will be the foundations of your personal sense of style.

2. Wear Clothes That Actually Fit

One of the biggest problems men seem to have with looking good is finding clothes that actually fit them properly. For whatever reason, men seem to gravitate towards clothing that is too big on them. This baggy look is totally unappealing and can ruin your odds of looking good.

You need to really get a handle on what your true sizes are. Get your measurements from a professional and pay attention to what your purchasing. You’ll look even more stylish in everyday wear if it fits properly.

And you won’t waste money this way either. If you’re going to spend all that cash on men’s burgundy dress pants, you want them to fit right, don’t you?

3. Steer Clear of Graphic Tees

Most men who want to dress better want to appear more mature and grounded. They don’t want to look like children anymore. And while there’s nothing inherently wrong with a graphic t-shirt, the best suggestion is probably to get these out of your closet.

It’s not your fault that teenage men around the country flock to the graphic t-shirt. It’s just not a good way to be taken seriously: many are tacky, cheap, and have a juvenile sense of humor or focus on them.

Trade these out for solid colors and you’ll be taking a big step towards a more mature looking you.
