6 Homemade Masks For Fresher Skin

With the right skincare routine, anyone can achieve vibrant and fresh-looking skin. There are numerous skin care products available in the market, but they have various chemicals and preservatives that can be damaging for the skin; moreover, any somewhat decent products are quite expensive.

However, that doesn’t mean that you can’t have fresh and glowing skin. You should opt for natural homemade face masks that are very beneficial for your skin. With a little bit of effort, you can make super active, exfoliating, moisturizing, and healing face masks at home.

Here are some of my favorite DIY face masks that you should try to make.

The coffee, lemon, and honey face mask

This is an excellent anti-aging mask that can easily be made from products that you find at home. The three ingredients work wonders on your skin. Caffeine can tighten sagging skin and reduce puffiness. The citric acid from the lemon is great for removing excess oils and cleaning your pores, and finally, honey gives the mask some structure, and it also works as an anti-inflammatory substance.

Ingredients:

  • Ground coffee (2 tbsp)
  • Honey (1 tbsp)
  • Lemon juice (a few drops)

Directions for preparation:

  • Mix the ground coffee with the honey in a small bowl.
  • Add some lemon juice, a few drops at a time, until you achieve a smooth paste-like consistency.
  • Apply the mask to your face for 5 to 10 minutes, but don’t scrub, because the coarse coffee grounds can damage sensitive skin.
  • Wash off with lukewarm water, and use a moisturizer afterward.

The Brown sugar and grapefruit face mask:

This is an excellent exfoliating mask that will help remove dead skin cells and make your skin look fresh and vibrant. The brown sugar has an exfoliating effect, whereas the grapefruit provides vitamin C and citric acid, which helps clean out your pores and remove excess oil. You can also use orange juice if you can’t find grapefruits.

Ingredients:

  • Brown sugar (1/4 cup)
  • Grapefruit juice (2 tsp)

Directions for preparation:

  • Mix both the ingredients in a bowl, add the juice slowly so that the consistency of the mask can be controlled.
  • Apply the mask and scrub for 60 seconds to aid exfoliation
  • Let the mas sit for an additional 5-10 minutes
  • Wash off with lukewarm water and use some moisturizing lotion.

This is one of my favorite face masks. The oatmeal has a soothing effect on your skin, whereas the Greek yogurt is filled with healthy probiotics that can help you fight off inflammation. You should also add some lemon juice to the mask, which can help in fighting acne, as it cleans your pores and removes excess oils.

Ingredients:

  • Ground oats (2 tbsp)
  • Unflavored Greek yogurt (2 tsp)
  • Lemon juice (a few drops)

Directions for preparation:

  • Mix the ground oats the yogurt in a small bowl
  • Add some lemon juice to adjust the consistency.
  • Apply on your face for 5-10 minutes then wash off with some lukewarm water.

Turmeric and honey face mask:

This natural mask is beneficial in removing hyperpigmentation, and it is also great for fighting acne. Turmeric is useful when it comes to healing; it is a natural antiseptic and anti-inflammatory; it is the perfect ingredient for an anti-acne mask. Honey is used to provide the mask structure, and it is also an active anti-inflammatory substance on its own.

Ingredients:

  • Honey (2 tbsp)
  • Turmeric powder (1/2 tsp)

Directions for preparation:

  • Mix the turmeric and honey in a bowl to create a paste-like consistency.
  • Apply the mask on your face and massage your face gently in circular motions for 90 seconds
  • Leave the mask on for an additional 5-10 minutes and then wash off with lukewarm water.

The cucumber and milk face mask:

This is the perfect mask for people with rough skin because it is very soothing and refreshing. Moreover, because of its exfoliating properties, it can make your skin considerably softer and fresher. This relaxing face mask will give you spa-like vibes at home.

To make it even more comfortable, you should use a massage chair while you are waiting for the mask to dry. Medical massage chairs can also have various benefits for your skin. They can increase your blood flow and also aid the drainage of toxins by increasing the efficiency of the lymphatic system. Therefore, consider trying them out if you want to double the benefits and have an authentic spa experience.

Ingredients:

  • Cucumber (one half)
  • Milk (1/4 cup)
  • Honey (1 tbsp)
  • Brown sugar (1 tbsp)

Directions for preparation:

  • Puree the cucumber in a food processor, then add the milk and brown sugar
  • The mask is going to be a little watery, so you can add some honey to get the desired consistency
  • Mix the ingredients and rub the mask on your face for 60 seconds.
  • Let the mask sit for an additional 10 minutes and then wash it off with some warm water.

The yogurt and cocoa mask:

People with sensitive skin have a difficult time finding the right products for them; however, this natural face mask is one that you won’t have to worry about. This mask has a high number of probiotics and proteins that are great for sensitive skin.

Moreover, since sensitive skin is more prone to irritation and redness, cocoa is added, which has a healthy dose of flavonoids that can soothe the skin.

Finally, for the base of the mask, you should use honey, which also works as a capable anti-inflammatory substance on its own.

Ingredients

  • Honey (1 tbsp)
  • Cocoa powder (1 tbsp)
  • Yogurt (1 tbsp)

Directions for preparation:

  • Mix the ingredients in a small bowl and create an applicable paste.
  • Scrub the mask on your face for 60 seconds and then let it dry
  • After leaving the mask for 5-10 minutes, wash it off with warm water.
  • Don’t forget to use a moisturizing lotion after you were done.
