The Stupidest Beauty Pageant Answers

Beauty pageant contestants try their best to be cool and poised all throughout the competition. But watch them falter as the question and answer portion comes…

Many contestants are feeling tremendous pressure to come up with the right answers… which, of course, turn awkward and unintelligible. It’s just like their minds are flying and eyes are rolling as they fumble through words in a poor attempt to answer the question well. They are even hard-pressed to answer even the simplest questions from the judges!

The Q & A portion is the most nerve-wracking part of the pageant. Let’s admit it: some of us watch the pageants for the perverse reason of catching some embarrassing flubs in this particular portion and then getting a kick out of it. These beauties may not win the crown because of that, but they made headlines anyway (but for the wrong reasons). Another interesting fact that you must know if you are into the beauty and personal care industry is how to create Beauty Labels the right way.

Miss South Carolina1. Miss South Carolina (Miss Teen USA 2007)

Miss South Carolina’s response never fails to make to the annals of the worst pageant answers ever.

Question: Recent polls have shown a fifth of Americans can’t locate the US on the world map. Why do you think this is?

Answer: I personally believe that US Americans are unable to do so, because uh, some uh, people out there in our nation don’t have maps and uh, I believe that our education like such as in South Africa and uh, the Iraq, everywhere like such as, and, I believe that they should, our education over here in the US should help the US, uh, or uh, should help South Africa and should help Iraq and the Asian countries, so we will be able to build up our future. For our children.

Looks like Miss South Carolina was clearly in a haze and did not comprehend the question completely! Maybe she should brush up her geography knowledge.

2. Miss Venezuela (Miss Universe 2012)

Miss Venezuela was asked by one of the judges, Mexican actor/singer Diego Boneta. Although she brought an interpreter, Miss Venezuela chose to answer in rather broken English, anyway. But it’s not only that (although it was one of the things she also got a lot of flak for). Like many other contestants, she did not comprehend the question clearly.

Q: If you could make a new law, what would it be and explain why?

A: I think that any leys (laws) there are in Constitution or in life, are already made. I think that we should have, uh, a straight way to go in our similar, or, eh, in (laughs) our lives as is this. For example, I’m a surfer, and I think that the best wave that I can take is the wave that I wait for it. So please do our only, eh, law that we can do. Thank you Vegas!

As a result, Miss Venezuela got zero points from that portion. But despite that, she placed third overall.

Had she chosen to answer in her native Spanish, it might have saved her from this embarrassment, or even come out as the winner. What do you think?

3. Miss Utah (Miss USA 2012)

It seems that Miss South Carolina from Miss Teen USA is not alone when it comes to the worst American pageant answers. She has company in Miss Utah, who bombed in the Q&A portion of Miss USA 2012 when she flubbed an answer about income inequality between men and women.

Q: A recent report shows that in 40% of American families with children, women are the primary earners, yet they continue to earn less than men. What does it say about society?

A: I think we can relay this back to education, and how we are…. continuing to try to strive… t-to… figure out how to create jobs right now. That is the biggest problem and I think especially the men are, ehm, seen as the leaders of this so we need to try to figure out how to… create education better so that we can solve this problem. Thank you.

4. Miss Serbia and Montenegro (Miss Universe 2003)

It is obvious that Miss Serbia and Montenegro missed the point of this question being asked to her. A human being with emotions is not one of the choices!

Q: If you could be either water or fire, which would you be and why?

A: Well, I’m a human being and I don’t know how it is be a fire or a water, and from that reason I really don’t have answer on this question because I’m a human being, I’m a girl, which has an emotion, and fire and water doesn’t have.

5. Miss Hawaii (Miss Hawaii USA 1992)

Maybe Miss Hawaii could do better as a tourist guide? But we can’t shake off the fact that she’s one proud Hawaiian! And maybe she loves the beach too much.

Miss Hawaii: From the rocky shores of… Hawaii …to the beautiful sandy beaches of… Hawaii … America is our home.

6. Miss Philippines USA 2013

Beauty pageant contestant Joanlia Lising shows to us that even with seeing her own answer, we still can’t believe it.

Q: Among the five senses, what do you prefer to have if you could only have one, and why?

A: Thank you for that wonderful question. If I have to pick out of five senses, I’ll pick seeing. Because seeing is the best sense that we can ever see… because seeing is believing, and believing until you see is perfect. And, um, out of all senses, um, seeing, could really (more hand gestures)… Be wonderful because thank you. That would be it.
