Founded by Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel in 1909, the Paris-based company Chanel is now famous for its top luxury goods that range from clothes, to bags and perfume. One of the company’s most famous products is its signature perfume Chanel No. 5. As of 2016 the company is valued at $7.2 billion.
Christian-Dior

Christian Dior is another one of the most esteemed luxury good brands. Named after its founder who established the company in 1946, today the French company has grown and expanded. It designs and sells custom-made clothes as well as sells ready-to-wear ones. It also offers everything else from bags to footwear to perfume. Although its consumer base consists of women, Christian Dior has also expanded its market by selling merchandise for men and children.
Louis-Vuitton

Another French name in the world’s luxury goods market, Louis Vuitton is particularly famous for its bags, trunks and other leathered goods with the famous LV monogram. Founded by its namesake Louis Vuitton in 1854, the company has also expanded its merchandise that range from shoes to watches and sunglasses. As of 2016 its brand value stands at $27.3 billion. The company has remained stable despite its recent drop in sales and other industry challenges.
Rolex

Rolex is seen as the Rolls Royce of watches, known all over the world for its elegant and precise handcrafted timepieces. It was established in London in 1905 by Alfred Davis and Hans Wilsdorf. In 1919 the company moved to Switzerland, which has been Rolex’s home since. It is currently the fifth biggest and most valuable brand in the world, with a total brand value of $8.8 million as of May 2016 (according to Forbes).
Prada

Prada is another luxury fashion house based in Milan, Italy. It was founded by Mario Prada in 1913. It specializes in bags, luggages and other leather accessories, shoes and hats. Prada now has over 250 boutiques all over the world.
Gucci

Another Italian luxury fashion brand is Gucci, founded by Guccio Gucci in 1921 in Florence, where its present headquarters is also based. The company’s unique Italian craftsmanship is evident in their sophisticated luxury products from clothes to bags and watches. It is now valued at about $12 billion according to Forbes (as of May 2016).
Hermes

Hermes S.A., also known as Hermes Paris, is primarily famous for its sophisticated luxury handbags. The company was founded by Thierry Hermes in 1837. It has produced signature bags like the “Kelly Bag” (after American actress Grace Kelly, later Princess Grace of Monaco) and the “Birkin Bag” (after the English actress and singer Jane Birkin). It is one of the most esteemed brands in the world, now valued at $38.7 billion (as of May 2016).
Coach

Coach is also a famous signature brand coming from the New York City, USA. It is famous for its luxury leather goods, as well as shoes, RTW, watches, travel accessories, jewlery and fragrance. As of 2014 it has over 1,014 locations around the world.
Cartier

Cartier is a French luxury jewellry and watches brand founded by Louis-Francois Cartier in 1847. The headquarters are located in Paris, and the company operates over 200 stores in 125 countries. As of 2013 it is valued at $6.3 billion, proof of its reputation as one of the most powerful luxury brands on the planet.

A global luxury brand based in New York City, US, Tiffany and Co. is mainly famous for its jewelry. But the company has expanded further by introducing other products that range from silverware, crystal, china, leather goods and fragrances.
Armani

Founded by the Giorgio Armani and Sergio Galeotti in 1975, the company designs haute couture but also sells ready-to-wear clothing. The company sells one of the most expensive luxury apparel in the world. It has also branched out to jewellry and home interior items, eyewear, perfume and cosmetics.
