8 Incredible Spring Dress-up Ideas to Get You through Your Style Rut

It’s not uncommon for women to experience being in a style rut at some point in their everyday lives (unless you’re Victoria Beckham!) I mean, there are days when we feel less than beautiful; heck! Less than presentable, even!

That’s when you realize that your wardrobe needs an upgrade. Spring is just around the corner, and if you’re lost in all the trends that this season has brought, it’s time we pull you out of this state of cluelessness. Below I’ve jotted down a few outfit ideas that aren’t hard to put together; you can count on these outfits to make you look effortlessly pretty for a day at work or a parent-teacher meeting at your youngling’s school.

Upgrade Your Accessories

I probably forgot to mention; getting you out of your style rut is not just about making it easy to put together a unique outfit; rather, it is about doing it in an affordable manner. If you’re anything like me, you probably have a set of accessories that you wear almost every single day, like an emerald ring or a white gold pendant. Switch them with new accessories.

You can spend as much as your budget allows, I never tell people to not splurge on useful accessories. Besides, you can never have too many of them. Get yourself something trendy, preferably straight from the runway.

Try Different Combinations

Well, I am not aware of what style risks you take when dressing up, but I can give you a few ideas about how to stand out in a crowd. You need to pair up pieces that give a casual, careless and “whatever” vibe; the catch is, you have to do that as meticulously as possible. Not sure what I mean?

Consider pairing a long, denim button-down with a flowy mid-length skirt and some rusty looking sneakers. If you have an inverted triangle body, consider wearing a skirt with flared hem to balance the silhouette. Another great idea is pairing up a biker short with literally any top you can find in your wardrobe. You can also wear an embroidered t-shirt on a skirt to give it a more casual look. Two-Toned Denim Wear

I can’t get enough of denim; and I can’t get enough of it in any season, you guys. But wearing regular denim can get a bit… boring. It’s a good idea to swap your daily denim wear for two-toned denim. It adds a pop of color and reduces the blandness of outfit to a degree. Also, two-toned denim jackets look gorgeous with a printed dress. It looks casual, effortless and yet graceful. Two-toned denim shorts look great when worn with a crisp, white button-down or a loosely-fitted blouse. If you still find your outfit a bit too dull for your taste, wear neon-colored sneakers or bold flats.

Tux with a Twist

Courtesy of Bing Cosby, the Canadian Tuxedo is a popular choice for those days when you just don’t know what to wear! This outfit became popular when the famous denim brand Levi Strauss and Co. made a custom tuxedo jacket for the singer after he was rumored to have been banned from entering in a Canadian hotel because he was clad in denim from head-to-toe. Of course, they let him in when they found out who he was, and that became the popular entrance of this celebrity attire in the fashion world.

Working ladies can pull off this look while still appearing professional at work by throwing on a chic blazer; you can ditch the blazer for your date night later, and still look effortlessly gorgeous.

Paper Bag Trousers

Paper bag trousers have been all the rage for quite some time. It’s my choice of outfit because it’s comfy, and one can easily pair it up with any top and still look put-together. There’s a variety of tops that you can wear with a paper bag trouser. A vertically striped paper bag trouser looks beautiful with a basic black cropped top. Or, you can literally pair up a basic trouser with a camisole and accentuate the outfit with heels and accessories.

Don’t Pack the Parkas

Spring afternoons can still be somewhat chilly, so there are a few pieces from the winter outfit that you might not want to pack yet. Keep those parkas out because they look stunning atop a knee-length dress. You can add a boho vibe to the dress by carrying an ornate bag. This season, citrus colors like orange and yellow are a hit! Don’t be shy to put on those lovely, bold colored boots. This outfit looks quite casual; and yet, it has the runway appearance that we all need to stay on top of our fashion game.

Mules & Dresses

Are you a prissy missy who likes her wardrobe dressy? This attire is the perfect one for you to wear through the winters. I swear I got addicted to this combination. There are mornings when we want to look our best, but we’re really not willing to give it our best either. On those days, a flowy, calf-length dress can do wonders by hiding our laziness. Slip on a pair of mules, and you’ll be all dressed up for a casual stroll on the Parisian streets or your shopping spree in New York City.

A Jumpsuit

Or should I say, the jumpsuit? I think all of us have at least one of these wittily crafted pieces of clothing in our wardrobe. Like a dress, a jumpsuit can be worn on a day when you don’t feel like putting too much effort in your style and still want to look stylish. There are a lot of options we’ve got with jumpsuits, and my current favorite is a floral jumpsuit with shoulder cut-outs. You can also go for something basic, pair it up with a blazer and you have the perfect workplace outfit.

Alright, I loved talking about clothes, and I sincerely hope you enjoyed reading through these ideas as well. I would love to know what’s your take on the spring wardrobe this year?! Stay pretty!
